Walgreens is a great place to get toys to donate (through Sat night)

So, I know at Christmas-time many of us think about wanting to help families who are in need.  But, if you're like me you're watching every penny so it's not always easy.  I figured out a way to donate a few toys on a tight budget this year and wanted to share with all of you!  So, if you're looking for toys for your own children and/or some to donate, here are a couple of good deal scenarios at Walgreens through Saturday night taking into consideration the following things.

  • There is a coupon in the 4-day ad for $4 off any $9.99 toy, making them $5.99 (includes games, trucks, a laptop computer, teasets, cash register and lots of cars/trucks/dolls)
  • They also have some toys that are $6.99 and they are buy 2 get 1 free (always).
  • There is also the $5 Register Reward (RR) if you spend $25.
There are many, many organizations who need toys and things this time of year for their clients.  If you don't know of one personally, Walgreens stores have a box right up front by the cash registers for Toys for Tots donations making it super easy!  One of the cashiers told me today that Toys for Tots has the greatest need ever this year!

Scenario 1:
Buy 3 $9.99 toys ($29.97 before coupon)
Use $4 off coupon from the ad (deducts $12)
Pay: $17.97 & get back a $5 RR
Net: $12.97 for 3 nice toys or $4.32 each (this is the better deal since the $9.99 toys are "cooler")

Scenario 2:
Buy 3 $6.99 toys, 1 $9.99 toy and something else for $1.03 (they have some little beanie toys for $.99 plus a candy cane or a throw blanket for $1.99 or something) ~25 before coupon
Use $4 ff coupon from the ad (removes $4 from the $9.99 toy)
Pay: ~$21 (Remember, you only pay for 2 of the $6.99 toys and the third is free) & get back $5 RR
Net: ~$16 for 4 toys or $4 each

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The $5 Walgreens Register Reward does NOT roll-meaning you can't use the $5 RR from one $25 transaction on another $25 transaction or you won't get the RR.  Save the RR's for next week and use them on whatever is free after RR.  Only one $5 RR can be used in payment for each transaction next week.
